Noblesville – Located in the north east portion of Hamilton County is the city of Noblesville. Its small town character and charm; and easy access to Indianapolis via SR-37, I-69, and I-465 making it a sought after place for residents to live. Noblesville is home to many attractions- including an antique train, restaurants on the square, concerts from the some of the top artists in the country, to traveling back in time over 200 years.
Noblesville is home to almost 30,000 residents and is steadily growing. Dating all the way back to 1818 when the land, which is now Hamilton County, was purchase by the government from the local Indians. William Connor and his wife, who was a Delaware Indian, were the only settlers in the area. They established the first trading post in the area and lived in a log cabin. In 1823, William Conner with the help of Josiah Polk created what is now downtown Noblesville.
In 1851, the Peru and Indianapolis Railroad was completed through the town. When this happened, Noblesville was strengthened economically which caused the population to increase. Then in 1888, the city experienced its first growth boom with the discovery of the first natural gas well.
Today, when visitors drive around the Noblesville Square, they’ll see the history that has been preserved. The Noblesville Courthouse is French Renaissance architecture, which was built in 1879, continuing through the Historic District of town, all the way to the old shops and brick roads that complete the downtown square.
Noblesville Schools – Noblesville Schools continue to excel in both academically and athletically. The district now serves more than 8,000 students. The school system has seven elementary schools serving pre-kindergarten through fourth grade, one intermediate school for fifth and sixth grade, one middle school for seventh and eighth graders, and one high school for ninth through twelfth grade.
The Indiana Department of Education reports that on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) score results, Noblesville High School Students scored on average 1043 on the test, which is 39 points higher than the state average. Also, over 87% of all of the high school graduation go on to pursue degrees of high education. This is 12% higher than the state average.

Noblesville Historic District – The Noblesville Historic District is roughly bounded by Clinton, 10th Street, Maple Ave, and 8th Street. There are current fifty-three buildings that are part of the Historic District and are also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These buildings are all said to preserve the overall character and charm that was customary in the original designs of the city on 1853. Residents can take leisure strolls around the area and see Victorian houses, tree-lined streets, brick roads, as well as a variety of shops.
Parks and Recreation – The Noblesville Parks and Recreation is comprised of 4 public parks and two public golf courses. Forest Park is the largest of the parks. It offers picnic facilities, playgrounds, tennis courts, a skating park, meeting facilities, pool, putt-putt course, volleyball, basketball, and croquet courts, merri-go-round, and walking/biking trails. Every Thursday during the summer, park goers can enjoy free concerts!Events and Attractions- Noblesville has many attractions and events throughout the year. On the downtown square, locals gather every Friday night to view and admire other locals antique, vintage, and luxury cars. Then Saturday mornings, the locals gather to shop at the Farmer’s Market.
The Verizon Wireless Music Center is an outdoor amphitheatre that is primarily used for concerts. However, it has been used for high school graduations and as recently, a public speech venue for Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. This amphitheatre can seat 6,000 under the pavillion cover and 18,000 people in the lawn seating. The thrill seakers can enjoy the haunted houses and corn mazes during Halloween time.
Morse Reservoir is a 1500 acres of water, with 35 miles of shoreline and 7 miles of navigatable water. Morse extends from Noblesville up to Cicero. Morse was constructed back in 1956. It was the third reservoir of water that was created for the City of Indianapolis. The other two lakes are Geist and Eagle Creek. On Morse Reservoir homes range from $300,000 to over $1,000,000. There are two parks that offer free access to the water. The Red Bridge park is on the west shore at 236th Street in Cicero. This park offers boat slips for rent, a clubhouse, gas station, and Cicero Public Swimming pool. The other park is located at the dam. During the summer months, there is supervised swimming and picnicing.
Hamilton Towne Center is the latest Simon Mall to open in the area. It opened in May 2008 and has been a huge success. The Hamilton Towne Center has over 70 different shops, businesses, and restaurants. The shopping center boasts places like American Eagle, Chico’s, Cold Stone Cremery, Massage Envy, Old Navy, and the IMAX Theatre.
Conner Prairie Settlement Museum is a living museum dating back almost 200 years. Visitors are taught about life in the early 1800’s. The museum was created to honor the life of William Conner who was the founder of Noblesville. Throughout the summer, Connor Prairie hosts Symphony on the Prairie. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra comes every week and performs a concert. Each concert typically has a theme for music lovers from all generations. Concert goers can bring their picnic dinners and relax on the prairie while they take in the music.
The Indiana Transportation Museum is located in Forest Park. This museum was created to preserve Indiana’s railroad history as well as to educate the public in the history of the railroad. Visitors are able to experience how traveling used to be years ago. The museum is operated on the tracks that used to be known as Indianapolis & Peru as well as the Nickel Plate Road. The museum has many special events throughout the year. During the spring and summer, there is the Pizza Train which takes families to a pizza buffet in Tipton. There’s also a Dinner in the Diner train allows families to enjoy meals on the train. The Hamiltonian whisks riders from the Fishers Station to find dining restaurants in Hamilton County. In the fall time, riders can ride to the local pumpkin match to pick pumpkins. During the holiday season, it’s All Aboard this Polar Express! The riders are given their own sleigh bell, “goody bag” containing cookies, candies, and they receive hot cocoa.
Golfers can practice their swings and putting at one of the many golf courses in the area. These golf courses include Forest Park Golf Course, Harbour Trees Golf Course, Fox Prairie Golf Course, Pebble Brook Golf Course, Purgatory Golf Course, Sagamore Golf Course, Stony Creek Golf Club, and Fox Prairie Golf Course. Purgatory Golf Course has received many awards and recognition including been ranked #1 in the state by Golf Week Magazine, Top 10 courses in the state of Indiana by Golf Digest, and ranked the top 50 courses for Women by Golf For Women Magazine 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. Harbour Trees Golf Course was designed by Pete Dye while the Sagamore Golf Course was inspired by Jack Nicklaus.
The Noblesville Golf and Batting Center is an afternoon of fun just waiting for you! Guests can enjoy the driving range, putt-putt, batting cages, and sand volleyball courts. It’s a great, inexpensive fun!

Stony Creek Farms is a great place for people of all ages. The 1860’s era farm is located on 50 acres of rolling farmland and woods have become the home of the “Pumpkin Harvest Festival”. The property was named after Stony Creek, which winds through the land. This creek was an Indian trade route and the site of an old gristmill. Around Halloween, visitors can enjoy picking fresh pumpkins as well as taking hayrides. Then around the holiday season, visitors enjoy hayrides to go pick their fresh cut trees, wreaths, and garland in the greenhouse. Warm yourself with the hot cider as your browse the gift shop.
