Fishers is one of the fastest growing communities in the greater Indianapolis area having more than doubled in population in the last 10 years to more than 66,000 residents. Located in Southeastern Hamilton County just north and east of Indianapolis, major transportation routes, such as I-465, SR-37 and I-69, make Fishers a very convenient place to live and do business. Town Council Fishers is served by a seven-member
Town Council form of government, who serves as the Town's executive and legislative body. The Town Council appoints a Town Manager who oversees the day-to-day operations of the Fishers. The town also elects a
Clerk-Treasurer. The Town of Fishers Municipal Complex is the site of many important businesses and organizations. Some of these include the Town Hall, the Train Station Community Building, including the Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitors Bureau offices; Bureau of Motor Vehicles; library; post office;
fire department; and
police department.
Education The Hamilton Southeastern School System has received numerous awards and recognition for their achievements in education for the students. The school system is comprised of twelve elementary schools for grades kindergarten through fourth grade, two intermediate schools housing fifth and sixth grade, two junior high schools for seventh and eighth grade, and two high schools for ninth grade through twelfth grade. This school system has a current enrollment of over 17,000 students.
Hamilton Southeastern schools have been awarded numerous awards and honors. Currently, ten of the schools in the district hold a Four Star rating issued by the Indiana Department of Education. The school district has developed a program for their gifted and talented students known as "REACH". REACH was developed in order to recognize and appreciate the special talents students throughout the school district. The district is committed to nurturing and providing an environment that will allow students to continue growing their talents.
Hamilton Southeastern Schools also recognizes the importance making sure students don't fall behind. The state recently adopted the "No Child Left Behind" Program and Hamilton Southeastern has taken that to heart. The district has developed a special education program that is specially-designed instruction to meet a student's unique educational needs and related services to support a student's educational program. These services range from support for students placed in general education classroom settings to self-contained specialized programs for students whose educational needs require more intensive services and support.
As a result of these efforts that the school has great test scores in comparison to the state. The Indiana Department of Education reports that on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Hamilton Southeastern High School students scored an average of 1,092, which is 84 points higher than the state average. In addition, 76% of the twelfth graders in the Hamilton Southeastern Schools took the Scholastic Aptitude Test, 25% more students than the state average.
Approximately 92% of high school students graduate and go on to continue their degree at four-year schools. This is about 16% higher than the state average that continues higher education. The school system also spends almost $9,700 per pupil in their classroom. This is over $4,200 more than the state's current expenditure per pupil.

Downtown Fishers - Fishers has been one of the fastest growing communities in the country both residentially as well as commercially. The Fishers business community, which currently includes over 1,500 companies, continues to grow along with the rapid expansion of the residential communities. The town of Fishers currently has some expansive projects underway that will serve as wonderful additions to the community. Of these projects, there are currently nine major ones that are responsible for the majority of the $700 million of private capital funds that had been contributed.
- The first project is a $192 million Clarian hospital. This project will be over 300,000 square feet and is projected to be completed in 2010.
- A $31 million St. Vincent's hospital project will add an additional 120,000 square feet. It is scheduled to be completed in this year.
- The Fishers Marketplace is an addition of a hotel/convention as well as an outdoor water park. This project is estimated to cost $120 million and should be completed in 2009.

Parks and Recreation - The Fishers Parks and Recreation is comprised of twelve developed parks totaling 376 acres, five undeveloped sites totaling 152 acres, and over 61 miles of multi-purpose trail. All of these trails have a variety of uses. Residents have open to them athletic fields, horseshoe pits, outdoor basketball courts, picnic tables, playgrounds, fishing ponds, grills, outdoor water parks, and sand volleyball courts.
Events and Attractions - Fishers offers numerous activities for the residents throughout the year.
The Fishers Freedom Festival is an annual event held the last full weekend of June. As part of the festival, there is the Freedom Run, which is a 5K run/walk. Guests enjoy informational booths, food vendors, Charity Basketball Shootout, games and tents for the kids, a blood drive, and fireworks. This is a free event to the public. The Indiana State Fair is an annual event that attracts thousands of visitors from all over. Fair-goers have the opportunity to hop on a train that runs from Fishers down to the State Fair Grounds. The train departs from the Fishers Station which is located at 116th street, a half-mile west of I-69.
Conner Prairie is one of the finest outdoor museums in the nation. Conner Prairie is a living history museum that preserves the historic William Conner home and recreates parts of life in Indiana in the 19th century down by the White River. William Conner becomes the first permanent white settler in what is now present-day Fishers, Ind., and builds a log cabin and a trading post along the banks of the White River in 1802. The land upon which he settled eventually becomes Conner Prairie, which is today located within the Fishers town limits, and is one of the nation's most respected living history museums. Throughout the summer, Conner Prairie hosts Symphony on the Prairie. These are weekly themed performances done by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. From May through October on Saturday mornings, residents can enjoy the weekly Fishers Farmer's Market. The market has over 30 high quality vendors.
